This transparent adhesive film is designed to provide effective impact protection. It is 0.2 mm thick and, unlike conventional transparent vinyl, its composition has been specially formulated to resist the impact of loose stones and prevent scratches caused by branches, roots, or rocks. This film offers quick and easy application, providing maximum protection for your bike’s frame and other parts.
Its exceptional strength makes it an ideal choice for bicycle frames, and is essential for frames made with composite fibers. Although carbon fiber is known for its high mechanical strength, it is less impact-resistant than other materials such as aluminum or steel.
1. Surface Preparation:
• Cleaning: Clean the bike frame with E-Razer Formula or similar to remove dirt and grease. Then, degrease the areas where you will apply the film using IPA Pure 99.9% and a clean, lint-free cloth. This ensures optimal adhesion of the protector.
2. Measuring and Cutting the Film:
• Template: If possible, create a template of the area to be protected using paper or cardboard. This will help you cut the film accurately.
• Cutting: Place the template on the protective film and, using a sharp blade or scissors, cut the film to the desired shape. Make sure the cut pieces completely cover the areas exposed to possible damage.
3. Applying the Film:
• Soap Solution: Prepare a mixture of water and a few drops of mild soap in a spray bottle. Lightly spray the surface of the frame where you will apply the film and the adhesive side of the film. This solution allows you to adjust the position of the film during application. • Installation: Remove the backing from the protective film and place it over the desired area of the frame. The soapy solution will allow you to slide and adjust the film until it is in the correct position.
• Bubble Removal: Use a rubber squeegee or a plastic card wrapped in a soft cloth to remove excess solution and air bubbles. Start from the center to the edges, applying even pressure.
4. Drying and Final Adjustment:
• Drying: Allow the film to dry completely. Depending on ambient conditions, this may take several hours.
• Inspection: After drying, inspect the film to ensure there are no bubbles or loose areas. If you find any, use the squeegee to smooth them out again.
Additional Tips:
• Temperature: Perform installation in a clean, moderately heated environment, preferably between 13°C and 32°C, to facilitate application and adhesion of the film. • Practice: If this is your first time applying protective film, practice on a small or less visible area of the frame to familiarize yourself with the process.
• Maintenance: Once installed, you can clean the protective film the same way you would the rest of the frame. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the film.
